Curling wands have both a variety of features and types which set them apart from each other. Choosing the right one for you depends primarily on the look and style you want to achieve each day. Different barrel sizes and shapes are one of the main considerations. While you can’t truly know the style you want, we can list several types of curling wands that we think are best based on
10. Lustrum by NuMe
This is a decent wand for the price given that it has a number of barrels to increase versatility, and simple, easy-to-use controls for great usability. Many users say it is an ideal starter wand for younger children as well. Most users like the performance of the item, citing an even, consistent heat and a good curl.
Where this model falls short is not in design but logistics, as many users received items with damaged barrels or had some trouble with returns and warranties. Very functional, but may come with a few other problems.
9. Remington CI5325 Keratin Therapy Curling Wand, 1-Inch, Brown
This simple curling iron is great in terms of usability as it performs its one function with ease, having no extraneous controls to get in your way. It also features a “keratin infusion” to strengthen your hair, and the manufacturer claims this specialized aspect should last the life of the product.
Where the Remington falls somewhat short is in versatility, as it does not offer other modes or styles of curling.
Performance is also a bit lower than we’d like, as some users claim it does not get hot enough for curling needs.
8. MHD Professional Curling Iron Tapered 25mm to 19mm Diameter
This curling iron is a tapered model for those who wish to achieve a tighter curl and a more natural look. While we think the usability is good, it does have an extra long turn on time, and the clip placement is not ideal for some hair styles. It is not an especially versatile wand, designed mostly for those who do not have very long hair.
Performance is adequate, however, some users received products that did not work, and some of the previous design issues may impact how well this works for you depending on hair type and length.
7. SwanMyst Curling Wand
A great bargain, this SwanMyst wand gets high marks for great usability as it features an easy to use temp control knob, auto-off feature and very fast warm-up period to please those on the go. With multiple heat settings for types of hair, it also offers the versatility you need for any styling job. Users love the quality performance of this wand, though some think it is a bit large.
Note that there are two barrel sizes, you should choose the one that best suits your hair.
6. AmoVee Mini Curling Iron
We like this one because there are as many hair styles and types as there are people, and some may prefer the extra fine, tighter curls. Users typically have no problems with the performance, saying the product works exactly as intended as long as you don’t expect it to mirror the power of full-size wands. Extremely high usability here thanks to its very simple, no frills design structure.
We would not rate this wand high in versatility overall, but what it does, it does very well and it can be a great travel companion and provides some of its own unique looks.
5. NexGadget 5 in 1 Hair Curler Wand Set
We always like all in one models that combine various interchangeable features, as they rank higher in overall versatility, and this wand from NexGadget is no exception. Five different barrels allow any hair types and styles to get the curls they want. Usability is also excellent thanks to the adjustable controls and non-skid design of the unit, ensuring you maintain your grip while curling. A handy swivel minimizes the risk of tangles and interference.
Users had very few complaints overall, citing good performance. Though a few mentioned that it should have shipped with a glove, and did not.
4. PARWIN BEAUTY Diamond Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Wand
This wand is great in terms of usability primarily due to easy to read and use controls, quick heat up times, and a generally even heat over the surface area. Although not as high in versatility as other units with added barrels, nearly every user reported quality results with regard to performance. Therefore, we can strongly recommend this one as one of the best curling wands you’ll find.
3. Infiniti Pro by Conair Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Wand
We like this wand by Infiniti for its combination of versatility and usability. It features simple yet effective controls and quick heat times and temperature adjustment. The tapered barrel means it can be used for a large variety of curling and styling jobs.
Nearly all users report high performance with satisfactory results when using this model.
There were a few users who found that some switches did not always work, and others who found it to be a bit small for their needs.
2. Elehot Curling Wand Iron LCD
This curling iron ranks as one of the best for its many heat settings and multiple barrels, thus giving it excellent versatility. You can find the temperature that works for your hair and practically any style is available to you thanks to the interchangeable barrels. Simple controls, an LCD display and an auto-off feature give it great usability as well.
Nearly all users have reported extremely high-grade performance with this model, most citing only minor cosmetic complaints. Hard to go wrong with this one.
1. Xtava Satin Wave 5 in 1 Professional Curling Iron and Wand Set
We like to recommend wands with great versatility, and this 5-in-1 by Xtava fits that bill nicely. The huge variety of wands means you’ll be ready for any type of curling job you may need; in fact, you’ll be able to help your friends out too. Nine different, easy-to-use settings and great features like auto off, quick startup and swivel cord combined with the heat resistant glove really increase usability here too.
Most users can’t get enough of the quality performance of this one. Though we should note, there is no cool tip on this model; the entire surface area is heated.
